I'm not sure if my child will like skating? |
Take a one-time
"Try-It" class available for Little Folks & Tots, Parent
& Me or Beginner classes. The price is just $17.50
($20 for Parent & Me) and can be applied to the price of
a series. Note no Try-Its during the last 3 weeks of
class due to testing.

How old does my child have to be to take
lessons? |
If you child can
walk, then s/he can skate. Our smallest rental
skate is toddler size 7. To enroll in our Little
Folk & Tots class, the skater must be at least age 3.
Younger children can take the Parent and Me class with
you.

|
When should I Enroll? |
For first time
skaters, we recommend beginning at the start of a new
series; however, if the skater is able to get around the
rink away from the walls, then s/he is ready to join
even in the middle of the series. We will pro rate
the tuition for the remaining number of weeks.
Note no enrollments during the last 3 weeks of class
due to testing. New students can enroll as early as
3 weeks prior to the beginning of a new series,
continuing students must wait until the last day of
class when they receive their progress report so they know
what class to take.

How quickly will my child progress? |
This is difficult to generalize. It depends on several
factors including: skaters' natural athletic ability,
amount of time spent practicing, amount of time in
lessons, focus during instruction, enthusiasm for the
sport, and quality of skates. In general, each level
gets more difficult. Consequently, a child who
moves quickly from one level to the next in the
introductory levels, will need more time to
graduate to more advanced levels. |

Which are better group or private lessons? |
For a
recreational skater a combination of both group and
private lessons often has the
best results. Group lessons offer comradery and very
importantly, peer pressure to perform, which often gets
a skater over their fear of trying something new.
Private lessons provide intensive one on one instruction
to fine-tune skills. If you are interested in
private instruction, please explore our list of
instructors (link located above) or speak with our
Skating Director who can help you find the right
instructor for you or your child |
